Thuso Mbedu lands leading role in US series and we are all extremely excited for her.

Thuso posted a Variety article that reported that she will play the lead role in Barry Jenkins’ Amazon series based on Colson Whitehead’s book titled “The Underground Railroad”.

She will play the lead role Cora with Chase W. Dillon as Homer and Aaron Pierre as Caesar.

The Underground Railroad will be an 11 episode series with each episode reported to be an hour long.

She has made history as the first black South Africa actress to lead an American television series.

Thuso Mbedu is definitely a talented actress as she proved in Mzansi Magic’s drama series Is’thunzi where she played the role of a young woman named Winnie.

Since then she has been nominated for two International Emmy Awards and has also acted on the popular SABC soap drama Generations: The Legacy.
