2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between Libya and South Africa got underway last night at 19:00 South African time.
At the beginning of the game both team had a very realistic chance of qualifying for the 2019 AFCON that will be held in Egypt in June this year.
Libya had to win to qualify. South Africa needed just a draw to book a place in Egypt. Naturally a win would have been preferable.
The first half saw Libya on the front foot most of the half. Libya had the majority of the position and shots.
The second half saw South Africa get into the game a bit more. There were many runs in behind the Libya back line as Libya looked to play high in attempts to get a goal.
Percy Tau opened the scoring with a beautiful taken shot from the edge of the 18 area in the 49th minute.
Libya was awarded a penalty after South African goalkeeper Keet foul. The penalty was converted in the 64th minute and the score was 1-1.
Percy tau completed his brace in the 69th minute to give South Africa the lead yet again.
The game ended Libya 1 and South Africa 2.
