The late hip hop star Jabulani Tsambo (HHP) and his widow Lerato Sengadi have made headlines again. After reports surfaced that HHP’s will excludes customary wife Lerato Sengadi.
HHP’s family spokesperson Nkululeko Ncana did confirm to news outlets that this is true and added that HHP will states that everything he owned will go to his 14 year old son Leano.
The will shall take effect if Lerato is found to not be HHP’s customary wife by the Supreme Court of Appeals. However if the verdict is in favour of Lerato Sengadi then she will be entitled to a 50% share of his estate as a customary wife.
The South Gauteng High Court verdict was that Lerato Sengadi is HHP’s customary wife, however HHP’s family was granted leave to appeal the decision at the Supreme Court of Appeals.
HHP’s estate is reported to include his multimillion-rand house, image rights, a multimillion-rand music catalogue and royalties from television and radio stations.
According to a Timeslive article HHP’s family spokesperson Nkululeko Ncana said “We are not surprised as a family that it was left to the son because that was his dying wish and we will honour that. We do not know of any opposition to the will. Further, we are not expecting any challenge because, as we see it, there is no basis for a challenge.”
Judging from Lerato Sengadi’s social media post it seems like she won’t cower.
