Car Crash Ends Kaizer Chiefs Wiseman Meyiwa’s Career
Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Wiseman Meyiwa has been forced to retire from professional football after injuries he sustained in a car accident in November 2018.
Meyiwa (19) sustained spinal damage during a car crash on the N3 while travelling back to the Free State during the Christmas break in the Absa Premiership last November.
Kaizer Chiefs manager Bobby Motaung at a press conference at Naturena today made the sad announcement.
“Disability is something that is beyond anyone’s control. We urge respect and medical, mental, psychological and emotional support for the player in this difficult time,”
“The family as a whole also needs support from everyone in the fraternity. Today we had a good celebration day with him. His life is still going on, it’s just a career-ending moment for him” said Motaung.
Meyiwa joined Kaizer Chiefs in 2014 and was promoted to the first team in the 2017/18 season under then coach Steve Komphela.
